Shirley Crosby, 98, of Newton Falls, passed on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Laurie Ann Nursing Home in Newton Falls where she was recuperating from hip surgery.  She was born on March 25, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence Godfrey Dahman and Anna Marie Quigley Dahman.  Shirley graduated from South High School in Youngstown.

Robert H. Crosby and Shirley were introduced by mutual friends who had arranged a meeting over pie and coffee.  On December 15, 1942, the couple were united in marriage at St. Patrick Cathedral in Youngstown.  They enjoyed activities together such as roller skating and attending antique car shows as Robert had been a member of the Sebring Antique Car Club.

She was a seamstress and an accomplished pianist.  She enjoyed singing and had been involved in the St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church Choir in New Middletown.

Most recently she was a parishioner of St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls.

Shirley had been employed by American Paper Products for eleven years, but preferred her vocation as homemaker.

Formerly residing in New Middletown, Shirley and Robert relocated to Newton Falls to be closer to family.

Treasured memories of Shirley will be carried on by her loving family, her daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. and Dannie Armstrong of Newton Township; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Molly Crosby of Newton Falls; her grandchildren, Douglas (Marie) Crosby, Reid (Beth) Crosby and Holly (Greg) Reinke and her great grandchildren, Cole, Caleb, Ashley, Lamb, Ethan, Jesse, Rachel and Jacob.

Preceding Shirley were her husband, Robert on April 3, 2009 and her sister, Mary G. Miller.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April, 25, 2017 at the Borowski Memorial Home where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Youngstown, Ohio.

The family requests that material tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Association as Shirley had concerns for the wellbeing of those who have been afflicted with Alzheimers.
