Margaret R. Bednarcik, 90, of Newton Falls, entered into eternal peace on May 14, 2017 at Omni Manor in Youngstown. Margaret was born on June 13, 1926 in Ramey, PA, the daughter of John and Anna (Elko) Kohut. She graduated in 1944 from Ramey High School.
Margaret was a Newton Falls resident for most of her life. In 1947 she joined in marriage with Joseph E. Bednarcik and they raised their family in Newton Falls.
She was a long time member of the St. Mary’s and Joseph’s Church and Ladies Guild of which she was a Charter Member and a past President. Margaret sang in her church choir for decades.
She enjoyed ballroom dancing, hosting card parties for friends, bowling on many leagues, and going to casinos. Family gatherings were very special for Margaret. She was a traveler, having travelled the world. Margaret was a giving person who volunteered at the Red Cross, and as a Cub Scouts Den Mother.
Margaret worked on her family’s farm, at Carlos Restaurant in Newton Falls as a waitress, at Peerless Electric, and as a line worker at the Ravenna Arsenal. She worked at the GM Corp., Lordstown Division, for 16 years. Upon retirement she became a proud member of #1112 UAW Retirees.
Cherished memories of Margaret will be carried on by her sons Gregory (Grace) of Charlotte, NC, Joseph of Warren, and Vincent of Lake Milton, brother Robert (Stef) Kohut of Newton Falls, sister Helen (John) Surick of Newton Falls, 5 grandchildren , and 7 great grandchildren.
Preceding Margaret in death were her beloved husband Joseph who passed in 2006, 7 brothers, a sister, a daughter in law, and a great granddaughter.
Family and friends may call Thursday May 18 from 9 to 10 AM at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls. Services will follow at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Church. Margaret will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
