William R. Kovacs, Jr., 85, of Newton Falls, Ohio passed on May 15, 2024 at Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.  He was born on December 21, 1938, the son of William R. and Barbara Jennings Kovacs.

A lifetime area resident, William graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1957.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. 

William had been employed as an assembler/inspector at General Motors for thirty years.

He attended the First Christian Church of Newton Falls and was a member of the Newton Falls Lions Club.  William loved his community and the City of Newton Falls awarded William for his volunteer work for the city.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his son, Raymond A. (Dawn) Kovacs of Newton Falls; his daughter, Ann (Sam) McCann of Niles; his brother, James A.  (Doris) Kovacs of Suffield; and his sisters, Barbara (John) Fernandez of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Alice (Ronnie) Young of Bessemer, Pennsylvania  and Wilma Cox of New Castle, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kovacs and his brother, Clyde.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio and also on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  A service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Newton Township Cemetery.
