Wayne Charles Masters Jr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2024, in his hometown of Newton Falls, Ohio. Born November 14, 1954, Wayne was the only son of the late Jane Romanov Masters and Wayne Charles Masters, Sr.
Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Army. During his enlistment, he served time in Germany. He also received the National Defense Service Medal.
Wayne’s love for music was unparalleled. He was a talented musician who played multiple instruments. Wayne enjoyed composing music and writing songs and jingles, of which some were commercialized.
Wayne coached his sons in football and baseball, instilling in them the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Brad (Teresa) Masters of Columbiana and Nate (Amy) Masters of Newton Falls; a daughter, Susie Griffiths and her family of Tooele, Utah; five grandchildren who called him Guido, Eli, David, Samuel, Ethan and Emerson Masters; a sister, Patricia (Christopher) Hanzel; a brother-in-law, Douglas Carey; and nephews, Michael and Steven Carey and Adam Hallock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Melinda Carey; and a son, Wayne Charles Masters III.
Wayne was a man of great humor, intelligence, and creativity. Wayne’s wit and warmth will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saints Mary and Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 232 Seneca Street, Warren on Friday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. A Rite of Committal with military honors will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Newton Tomlinson Road, Newton Falls.
