Shirley Anne Corbitt Carr, 82, our beloved wife, mother and friend, has been called home to our heavenly Father, will be deeply missed by her loved ones and friends. Shirley was born on January 5, 1942 in Cow Run, West Virginia, the daughter of Emory Hugh Corbitt and Mildred E. Holt.
She graduated from Parsons High School in 1959 and Shepherd University in 1963. With her degree in education, Shirley taught school in Romney and Parsons, West Virginia. She had a passion for teaching students, whether in a classroom at school or in the church through her faith. She retired from Hattie Larlham in Mantua, Ohio. Shirley was a member of the Leavittsburg Baptist Church.
Loving memories of Shirley will be cherished by her caring family, her husband, Benny N. Carr, whom she married on December 28, 1963; her sons, Michael T. Carr of Bristolville, Ohio and Randall N. (Diana) Carr of Belvidere, Illinois; her grandchildren, Thomas Carr and Chad Carr, both of Belvidere, Illinois, Mara Carr of Bristolville, Ohio, Maria Carr of Warren, Ohio, James Bragg of Leavittsburg, Ohio, Maddie Bragg, Cole and Madison Butler of Belvidere, Illinois, Robert Torres and Eric Torres; her great grandchildren, Avery Carr of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Robert A., Selena Mary Lynn, Destiny N., Eric M., Jr., Aleena M., Ryan J. Torres and Eli Barnes; her sisters, Sylvia Foster of Virginia, Dolores ( Lou Gary) Linger, Gladys Samples, and Gloria (Kenneth) Short, all of Weston, West Virginia.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, Emory and Mildred; her son, Larry W. Carr; and her brothers, Marvin H. Corbitt, J. Dewain Corbitt and Emory R. Corbitt.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio, where a service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Alger officiating.
Interment will be in the Braceville Township Cemetery.
