Rosemarie Lucille (Genco) VanDyke Obituary

Rosemarie Lucille VanDyke, 83, of Newton Falls, Ohio entered into eternal rest with God on Thursday, March 3, 2022.  She was born on February 10, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Vincent J. and Mary Mitrovka Genco.  Rose was a 1957 graduate of Newton Falls High School.

Rose met her future husband, John, in 1957.   After four years, the couple would marry in a wedding chapel in Yuma, Arizona on January 27, 1961.  Their relationship was successfully built on affection, caring, trust and sharing things together.  Rose and John were avid travelers for many years, having visited over 30 countries during their marriage.

Early in her career, Rose had worked as a hairdresser and owned her own shop.

Rose was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland, Ohio for many decades.  Rose was active in Camp Fire Girls, serving in many leadership roles over the years including as a camp director, group leader, mentor, and role model for young women.  In the 1980’s, Rose volunteered at the Muscular Dystrophy Camp Isaac Jacques for four years.  She also enjoyed herb and flower gardening and motorcycle touring.  Rose will be remembered by friends and family as having a love for all people and a love of nature’s many creatures such as hummingbirds, spiders, and snakes.

Rose is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John H. VanDyke; her two children, J. Jeffrey VanDyke (Cristine VanDyke) of Concord, Massachusetts and Amy VanDyke (Michael Dietz) of Columbus, Ohio; and her grandchildren, “her 4 gems”, Lucas A. VanDyke, Emma A. Harvey, Isaac V. Harvey, and Michael J. Dietz.

Visitation will be held on March 8, 2022 from 10:00 to noon at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio, where a service will be held at noon with Rev. Carl G. Kish officiating.
