Robert E. Shade, known affectionately as Bob, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Cleveland Clinic on July 11, 2024. He was born on May 9, 1942, in Pricetown, Ohio, the son of Earl and Marian Shade. Bob's life was characterized by his loving nature, enduring faith, and selfless dedication to his family and country.

Bob graduated from Jackson Milton High School in 1960, a foundation that led to a fulfilling career. For 30 years, he dedicated his skills and work ethic to Delphi Packard Electric, where he not only contributed to the company, but also formed lasting friendships and connections. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he proudly served his country in the United States Army. As a member of the 1st Cavalry Air Division during the Vietnam War, Bob's bravery and patriotism were evident.

Bob's life was a testament to love and commitment, as seen in his cherished marriage to his wife, Carole, who he married on August 5, 1965. Together they raised a beautiful family, including their daughters, Monica (Ed) Bugos, Andrea (Bill) Stevens, and their son, Rob (Amanda) Shade. Bob's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Miranda, Marissa, Dominic, Bode, Mila, and Bobby. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he imparted wisdom and love that will continue to guide them. And let's not forget his beloved dog, Katy, who was always by his side, sharing in the family's moments of joy and comfort. Bob had a special place in his heart for Kyle and James. Bob is also survived by sisters, Florence Sedlak, Francis Lurtz, Alta Jean Olszewski, Edna Ficeti and Peggy (Butch) Welch.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Adam; brother, Herbert Shade; sister-in-law, Dorothy Shade; brother-in-law, John Sedlak; brother-in-law, Carl Lurtz; brother-in-law, Pat Ficeti; brother-in-law, Ray Olszewski; and his beloved fur babies, Benji, Shana and Nanook.

A true sports enthusiast, Bob's passion for the Warren JFK Eagles and THE Ohio State Buckeyes was unmatched. He found great pleasure in cheering his favorite teams on and sharing those exciting moments with friends and family. Golf was another of Bob's interests, and he could often be found on the green, enjoying a game with his son and daughter-in-law, granddaughters, and son-in-law. These shared experiences on the course were more than just a game; they were precious moments of connection and laughter.

Bob lived his life as an embodiment of the values he held dear. He was a man of deep faith, which guided him through life's challenges and triumphs. His selflessness was evident in every act of kindness and support he extended to those around him. Bob's family and friends will forever remember him as a beacon of love and stability.

He was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish (formerly Our Lady of Mt Carmel), where he served as an usher. He attended Mass every Sunday and Holy day faithfully with his family.

Many thanks to Bob’s wonderful physicians, nurses, PCA’s & his sitters, who had compassionately taken care of him and our family, while Bob was a patient at the Cleveland Clinic!! We cannot thank you all enough!!

In his passing, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to resonate through the lives of those who knew him. His unwavering support, gentle guidance, and heartfelt laughter will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be cherished forever.

A private Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Saint Pope John XXIII Parish with full military honors. Bob was laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery.

We celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will endure. Bob's story is not one of an end but one of lasting impact and enduring affection that will continue to inspire and comfort us all. His was a life that truly made a difference, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
