Rena Kathleen Panak, 94, of Niles, and long-time resident of Warren and Newton Falls, passed on Friday, March 8, 2019 peacefully at home. Rena was born on October 17, 1924 in Glenville, West Virgina, the daughter of Homer and Blanche Stout Hess.
Rena and Joseph G. Panak were united in marriage in 1943. As the family grew, Rena provided a loving and nurturing home for the children. She was a shining example for her family, always caring, showing strength and persevering throughout the years.
She had been employed by Trumbull Memorial Hospital, working in the cafeteria and kitchen. After 17 ½ years, she retired in 1987. Following her retirement, Rena assisted her husband with the operation of a salvage grocery store in the old Dairy Queen in Windham, Ohio. The store remained open until Joseph’s passing in 1992.
Memories of Rena will be carried on by her loving family: her daughters, Joey (Nelson) Archuleta and Sherry (Tom) Stowe; her grandchildren, Mitch, Chrissy, Cathy, Robin, Kimberly, Tim and Christopher; her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Leigha, Shane, Ryan, Stephanie, Samantha, Nicholas, Jeremy, Jesse, Sila, Kiersten, Katie, Madison, Ian and Kylie; her great-great children, Camryn, Lynzee, Lennon and Bonnie Wren; her sister, Helen King; and her many nieces and nephews.
Rena was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, Joseph Stephen; her daughter, Anna Marie Jones; her great-granddaughter, Alexis; her parents and fourteen of her siblings.
The family will meet friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, where a service will be held at noon with Pastor Jeff Lanzer officiating.
Rena will be laid to rest next her husband in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta Township, Ohio.
