Randall Lee Stokes, known affectionately as Randy, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Newton Falls, Ohio, at the age of 71. He was born on September 8, 1954, in Warren, Ohio, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, his work, and the many people whose lives were brightened by his presence.

Randy was a Christian man whose steady character, warm humor, and practical wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was handy, funny, and wise, and those qualities were reflected in the way he approached both the ordinary and the important moments of life.

Randy was a proud graduate of Newton Falls High School, and he carried a lifelong connection to the community he called home. He was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to serving others. Over the years, he served as a Safety Force Sergeant and Road Supervisor/Cemetery Sexton, roles that reflected his sense of responsibility, care, and respect for others. In each position, he carried himself with dignity and dependability, earning the trust and appreciation of those around him.

Outside of work, Randy found joy in the things that brought people together. He loved family and fun, and he treasured the time spent with those closest to him. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he appreciated the fellowship and shared interest found through the Safety Force and Ham Radio Club. Sports were also among his interests, and he followed them with enthusiasm. Whether he was engaged in a favorite pastime or sharing a laugh with loved ones, Randy had a way of making the moment memorable.

Family was at the center of Randy’s life. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanne (Young) Stokes, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and devotion. He is also survived by his daughter, Erica (Stokes) Montgomery and her husband, Michael Montgomery.  He is further survived by his daughter, Lisa (Stokes) Maffitt, her children, Michael and Breanna, and her husband, Don Maffitt. His son, Matthew Stokes survives him, along with Matthew’s wife, Danielle Stokes and their son, Zachary. Randy cherished his role as husband, father, grandfather, and family man, and he took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those he loved.

He was preceded in death by grandsons, Joseph and Benjamin, whose memory remained close to his heart.

Those who knew Randy will remember his willingness to help, his sharp sense of humor, and the wisdom he shared so naturally. He was the kind of man who could fix what was broken, ease a worry with a well- timed joke, and offer guidance without making it feel heavy. His presence brought comfort and strength, and his memory will continue to do the same for those who were blessed to know him.

Randy’s life was one of faith, service, and love. He leaves behind a legacy built on hard work, devotion to family, and the simple but powerful gifts of kindness, laughter, and steady companionship. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the family he cherished, the friends he supported, and the many memories he helped create.
