Rackell Jean Ellis (Edwards-Smith), 41, of Lake Milton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2024, in Youngstown, Ohio.  She was born on December 7, 1982, in Warren, Ohio.  Rackell was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and held an Associate’s Degree from ETI Technical College.

She had worked as a STNA for Briarfield Healthcare for 18 years and as an Administrative Organizer for Service Employees International Union District 1199.

Rackell enjoyed concerts, traveling, rooting for the San Francisco 49ers, collecting nutcrackers, holidays, her pets, and spending time with family and friends.  She was a volunteer Boy Scout leader for over ten years.  Everyone knew when she was around because of her infectious smile and love of singing, especially Christmas carols.  Rackell was also active in her Virtual Reality worlds and made lasting friendships with others from all over the country.

Rackell has given the gift of life to others by her organ and tissue donation through Lifebanc.

A devoted wife and mother, cherished memories will be carried on by her husband, Larry Ellis, whom she married July 19, 2003; and her son, Austin, the center of her world.  She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Wanda Ellis of Lake Milton; her nephew, Zachary Sabol of Austintown; Roy Wright, who was a father figure; Cindi Horkey, who was a mother figure; her best friend, Cristina Kachmar; and her Golden Doodle, Gizmo.

Rackell was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Ann Edwards-Smith and David Smith; and Maverick, her beagle-terrier. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio and also on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish (St. Catherine) in Lake Milton with the Rev. David Merzweiler officiating. 

Interment will be in Palmyra West Cemetery.
