Phyllis Irene Headley, a beacon of generosity and creativity, passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 70 in Warren, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Phyllis was born on June 19, 1953, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Kenneth and Freeda Spencer. She was a cherished sister, a devoted mother, and an adoring grandmother whose warmth was felt by all who knew her.
Phyllis grew up in a lively household with five brothers and three sisters. She attended Jackson Milton High School.
Phyllis found love and companionship with her beloved husband, Curtis, who preceded her in death. Prior to his death, they celebrated 49 years of marriage. Together, they raised their son Shawn and their nephews Ryan and Kyle Collins whom Phyllis and Curt took under their wing and nurtured with all the love they had to offer. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren, Riley, Carter, and Adam, who brought endless happiness to her days.
Phyllis's love for her family and her dogs was matched only by her love for her garden, where she and Curt spent countless hours tending to her flowers. Her hands were rarely still, as she was always immersed in a variety of crafts, bringing beauty and joy into the world through her creations. Phyllis also had a knack for finding treasures at garage sales, a hobby that not only spoke to her resourceful nature but also to her belief that everything had value and potential.
Those who knew Phyllis would describe her as a woman of courage, who faced life's challenges with strength and grace. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. Her creative spirit shone brightly, inspiring others to see the beauty in the everyday and to cherish the simple moments that make life so precious.
Phyllis's journey through life was marked by the deep connections she made with those around her. Her brothers, Roy and David Spencer; sister, Sherry Collins; and nephew, Ryan Collins preceded her in death. Her memory will be kept alive by her loving son, Shawn Headley; her adored grandchildren; her brothers, Charles, James, and Michael; and her sisters, Marilyn Waddell and Bonnie Robison.
As we bid farewell to Phyllis, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a true embodiment of love and resilience. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her and in the beauty of the world she left behind. Phyllis Irene Headley's legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless creativity, and the courage to face each new day with hope and joy. She will be deeply missed, but her light will never fade.
