Paul "Peache" Black Obituary

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Paul “Peache” Black peacefully went to be with his Savior after a long illness.  He was 70.

Paul was born on January 5, 1951 in the beautiful mountains of Hartford, Tennessee.  But, with much protest, he and his family moved to Ohio when he was an adolescent.  However, it was here that he would go on to meet the love of his life.  Paul and Kathie married on August 2, 1981.  They loved and raised two boys, a girl and a grandson.  For forty years, they were the epitome of what real love looks like.

Paul worked at and retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio for 39.5 years.

Even though he would never admit it, Paul was a master craftsman woodworker.  Everything he made was so beautiful and of the highest quality.  He could also fix anything, sometimes becoming very creative, and would call it “hillbilly ingenuity”.  Paul also had a love and talent for music.  Whether at church or home, he was always singing and playing his guitar.  He even walked with a dance in his step, singing a tune wherever he went.  He enjoyed his truck and motorcycle rides.

He loved his church and leading song service and teaching.  He didn’t shy away from hard things, and would say many times, “I know I’m opening a can of worms…”.  Paul was true, honest, humble, and one of the most giving individuals you could come across.  Not many people knew he was an introvert.  His compassion and love for people eclipsed it, to the point that he never met a stranger.  His love for God defined and filled him.  He tried to never leave someone without asking, “Do you know Jesus?”  A giant in the Faith.  A simple man with a heart of gold.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Laverne and his mother, Dolly; his brothers, Sherman and Ferman and his sister, Karen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn, his sons, Paul (Anne) and Chad (Amy) Black; his daughter, Stephanie (Donnie) Buhro; his grandchildren, Michael Roueche, Alezandra, Sienna, Lillian, Nola, Elyse, Donovan, Nora and Nicholas; his brothers, Oll, Von and Charlie; his sister, Bonnie; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours and a service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the General Assembly Church of God, 2021 East River Road, Newton Falls, Ohio.  Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mitchel Meadors officiating.  A dinner will follow.

Interment will be in the Lordstown Cemetery.
