Paul Gano Obituary

Paul Gano, 88, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on December 4, 2025. He was born on April 14, 1937, in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late John and Anna Hospodar Gano.

Paul graduated from Braceville High School in 1955. The day after graduation, he began what would become a 49-year career at Republic Steel, where he eventually served as a supervisor in the galvanized department. He retired in 2004, but his strong work ethic led him to continue serving the community at the U.S. Post Office in Newton Falls as a mail carrier and later at Ace Hardware.

On April 30th, 1957, he married the love of his life, Diana Peters. They spent 68 beautiful years together.

Paul took great pride in his home and yard, and he could often be found working outdoors. He had a lifelong passion for cars and collectibles and enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Indians. Generous with his time and talents, Paul frequently helped his brother, Richard, with concrete work, building homes, and constructing pole barns. He also enjoyed woodworking, crafting decorative shelves and novelty pieces that are cherished by his family.

Above all, Paul treasured time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; and his siblings, George Gano, Margaret Kostrub, Irene Turner, Virginia Yates, and Richard Gano.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Diana; his daughter, Kim (Robert) Leigh; his grandchildren, Gregory (Danielle) Leigh and Amanda (Michael) Minnillo; and his five great-grandchildren, Lucia, Louis, Liam, Antonio, and Jackson.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Claudia “Sis” Albers and Nancy Hostettler for their outstanding and compassionate care, as well as to the Hospice Team from Ohio Living for their excellent support.

Visitation will be held at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls, Ohio, with Reverend Jim Lang as celebrant.

Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville, Ohio.
