Nancy Seminara, 95, passed peacefully on a sunny spring afternoon, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Warren, Ohio on May 8, 1927, the daughter of Dominic and Nicolina Lauizzi Iacozili and given the name Nazarena. Family and friends would fondly call her Nancy.
She began her formal education at St. Mary School in Warren, then attended East Junior High School and was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Nancy would continue her education at Akron University studying Fine Arts. With her interest in design, Nancy owned and operated Nancy’s Floral Arts, providing six generations of families with their wedding and floral needs.
While at the Idora Park Ballroom with her girlfriends who were taller than her, a gentlemen approached her and remarked “About time they got one my size.” They soon became friends, and on August 23, 1947 in St. Mary Church in Warren, William V. Seminara and Nancy Iacozili were united in marriage. Nancy expressed her faith as a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church.
For many years, Nancy would be involved with the Supreme Emblem Club of the United States of America. This club is an auxiliary of the B.P.O.E. She held many positions including that of President. With her participation in the club, she made many lasting friendships and traveled extensively during her membership. Nancy was also active with the Democratic Party.
Cherished memories of Nancy will be carried on by her loving family, her sons, Donald W. Seminara (Janice) and David “Al” (Nancy) Seminara; her caring daughter with whom she made her home, Annette M. (Charles) Clover; her grandchildren, Michael Seminara, Julie Seminara and Nicole Seminara and her two great granddaughters, Olivia and Gia.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William, on August 15, 1984; and her brothers, Augustine “Gus” Iacozili and John Iacozili.
A special thanks to Denise Montecalvo, Jean and Samantha Honsinger, and Ted Balzer for helping with her care over the years; and special love to Elon and Shae Woodyard and family.
