Michael J. Schmitz, 50, of Braceville Township, passed away on Monday July 11, 2022 at University Hospital Cleveland.  He was born on November 9, 1971 in Bedford, Ohio, the son of Michael and Janet (Bednar) Schmitz.

He was a 1990 graduate of Bedford High School.  On April 30, 2005 in Warren, Michael was united in marriage with Christy Clover.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic.

In his spare time Michael enjoyed car restoration and repair, muscle cars, spending time at the auto racetrack, boating, fishing, and camping.  But above all else he loved spending time with his son, Nathan, at Friday movie night and RC car racing.  He also enjoyed time at the cottage in Lake Milton with family.

Cherished memories of Michael will be carried on by his father Michael of Bedford Heights, wife Christy, sons Nathan Schmitz of Braceville, Michael (Nikki) McClellan of Niles, daughter Katie McClellan of Florida, sisters Cynthia (Steve) Schmitz of Richfield, Tricia (James) Divis, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Michael in death was his Mother.

Michael’s last gift of life was to be an organ donor.

Family and friends may call on Monday July 18 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home where services will be at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that monetary donations be made to his son Nathan.
