Mary (Core) Stottlemyer Obituary

Mary Core Stottlemyer, 99, a resident of the Gillette Nursing Home in Warren, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2025.  Mary was born on February 10, 1926, one of ten children, six boys and four girls, a daughter of Russell and Hazel Core, in Wadestown, West Virginia.


Mary was a graduate of Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia.  She loved teaching the elementary age students.


She married Charles Stottlemyer in 1946 and they made their home in the Warren, Ohio area.  They followed their son Patrick and family to Beaufort, South Carolina while Pat was stationed in the Marine Corps.  After Charles’s death in 1994, she returned to Warren, Ohio.


Mary attended the Cortland Church of Christ.  She loved antiques and collected glassworks from all the companies along the Ohio River.  She had a great memory and shared many details of work, adventures, teaching years and family history.


Mary is survived by her son, Patrick Stottlemyer of Las Vegas, Nevada; two granddaughters, Cecilia (Lincoln) Rogers and Sarah (Jeff) Hooper; and seven great grandchildren.  Also surviving are her brothers, Jim of Hundred, West Virginia, John of Wadestown, West Virginia and Norman and Mary Jo of Ocala, Florida.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Stottlemyer in 1994 and an infant son, Charles R. Stottlemyer, Jr. in 1951.


Her interment will be at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina with her husband, Charles.
