Mary Ann (Tucci) Gazda

Mary Ann Gazda, 84, of Newton Falls, Ohio peacefully entered Eternal Rest on Monday, April 8, 2024, after a short illness.

Mary Ann Tucci was born on May 23, 1939 in Youngwood, Pennsylvania to Rocco and Helen Ciampini Tucci.  The oldest of three children, Mary Ann was instrumental in helping to take care of her family when her father was tragically killed in an accident when she was just ten years old.

After graduating from Hempfield High School, Mary Ann worked at Robertshaw Controls and in the office at Wilson Freight Trucking in New Stanton, Pennsylvania.  During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Frank, on September 3, 1960.  They enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage before Frank’s passing in 2017.  Together they had two children, Frankie and Kevin.  Eventually they moved to Newton Falls, Ohio when Frank was hired at General Motors.

Mary Ann was a wife, mother and homemaker, but also a part-time worker at several different jobs over the years.  Once her children graduated, she worked full-time for many years at Custom Packing in Lordstown, Ohio.

Mary Ann and Frank lovingly referred to as Ema and Papa, dearly loved their grandchildren, Aaron, Hayden, Owen and Karsen and were a large presence in their lives growing up.

Mary Ann and Frank enjoyed traveling together and loved the ocean.  Among the places they traveled were Florida, Alaska, Mexico, Italy. They went on several cruises and also traveled to many other places.  Mary Ann and Frank were avid Pittsburgh Steelers fans and had season tickets for many years.

Mary Ann was of Roman Catholic Faith and was a long time member of Saints Mary & Joseph Parish in Newton Falls, Ohio.

She is survived by and will be dearly loved and missed by her two sons, Frank and Kevin; her grandchildren, Aaron, Hayden, Owen and Karsen; her brother, Tom Tucci and his wife, Karen; her sisters-in-law, Lucille and Rose Marie; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Rocco and Helen; her sister, Laura Sinnamond; her brothers-in-law, Moe, Clem and Vic; and her sister-in-law, Teresa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary & St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls, Ohio.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with Rev. David Merzweiler as celebrant.

Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery.
