Mark Alexander Gemik, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Warren, Ohio, the same place where his story began on March 30, 1966.  Known affectionately as Mark, he was a man whose life was characterized by service, love, and devotion to his family and country.


Mark was preceded in death by his father, Leo Hemberger; his stepfather, Michael Gemik; and his cherished grandparents, Alexander and Elsie Kish.


Memories of Mark will be carried on by his loving mother, Carol Gemik; his devoted daughter, Elisa Gemik; and his proud son-in-law, Jared Willette.  He was an inspiration to his son, Joshua Gemik and his supportive son-in-law, Chris Guajaca.  His joy and legacy continue through his grandson, Zackary Gemik.  Mark’s brother, Todd Hemberger, and sister-in-law, Dena Hemberger, along with his sister, Leigh Woolard, and brother-in-law, Michael Woolard will forever hold him in their hearts.  His nephews, Mikey Woolard, TJ and Tyler Hemberger, and his niece, Alayna Cooper, will miss his guidance and gentle spirit.


Mark was raised in Newton Falls, Ohio and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force.


He was a retired police officer and a beacon in his community. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his cat, Buidy.


Mark’s life was a testament to the values he held dear – love, duty and faith. He navigated life’s challenges with grace and left behind a legacy of strength and compassion.  Those who had the privilege of knowing Mark understood that his actions spoke louder than words, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.


As we bid farewell to Mark Alexander Gemik, we reflect on a life will-lived, a life filled with purpose and generosity of spirit. We take comfort in knowing the he was a journey marked by unwavering love and commitment to those he held dear. Mark’s story does not end here, for in our hearts and memories, he remains an ever-present guiding force.


A private ceremony will be held to honor Mark’s life and legacy.  In keeping with his selfless nature, we know he would want us to live our lives to the fullest, enriching the world as he did. Mark’s memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
