Maria Nunzia Hunt, known lovingly to family and friends as Nonna, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Newton Falls, Ohio, at the age of 73.

She was born on September 2, 1952, in Toronto, Canada, to Frank and Erminia Cucinatta Giuliano, both of whom preceded her in death. Maria moved to Newton Falls, Ohio at the age of 3 and later became a U.S. Citizen as well. Maria carried her family’s love and traditions with her throughout her life, and she remained deeply connected to those roots while building a life marked by devotion, strength, and kindness. She was the beloved sister of Rosario Giuliano (her best friend and caregiver). She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd “Chip” Hunt.

Maria graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1970 and later continued her education at Kent State University, where she earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice. She served as a reservist with the Trumbull County Sheriff Department from 1984 to 1993, worked in property management, was employed with Mike Tyson Productions, served as an account manager with the Cadle Company, and worked as an administrative assistant for the Newton Falls Municipal Court.

One of Maria’s greatest joys in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, Allison (John) Seifert and Cameron Hunt. She loved attending all their school sports and activities and took great pride in being present for the moments that mattered most to them. Being Nonna was one of the most cherished roles of her life, and she embraced it with deep love and devotion.

As a creative artist, Maria expressed herself with imagination and heart, and this gift reflected the thoughtful and vibrant person she was. Her creativity, along with her warmth and laughter, enriched the lives of those around her.

She will be remembered with love by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Maria Nunzia Hunt leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and kindness. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved, and she will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls on Monday, April 6, 2026, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Father Carl Kish officiating.    

She will be laid to rest beside her son at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
