Mabel Allen Obituary

Mabel Jean Allen, 86, of Newton Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 8, 2020. She was born April 30, 1934, in Frakes, Ky., the daughter of the late George and Maggie Hatfield Partin.

Known as "Jean" to most, she graduated from Southeast High School, Edinburg, as Salutatorian in 1952. She worked for many years for Nordlie - Newton Falls Cut Flower, and retired from Colonial Rubber Company, Ravenna.

Jean was a longtime active member of Newton Falls United Methodist Church, serving on various committees. She loved to cook for her family, especially her grandchildren who she adored. She had a passion for reading and always had several books waiting for her at the library. She traveled to California many times and especially loved San Francisco. Jean spent most of her childhood in Kentucky and fondly reminisced about her time there.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Bland of Newton Falls, and Vicki Sherlock of California; three granddaughters, Mary, Kathryn, and Marissa Bland; and two grandsons, James and Evan Sherlock.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bernard L. Allen, who she married on October 30, 1953; brothers Earl Partin of Frakes, Ky., Alfred Partin of Newton Falls, Philip Partin of Lynchburg, Va., and Billy Partin of Alliance; and sisters, Gladys McCulley of Dexter, Mo., Myrtle Partin of Walled Lake, Mich., and Edith Partin of Frakes, Ky.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus at Newton Falls for their compassionate care of Jean for several months prior to her returning home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's cemetery, Newton Falls, where Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at a later date.
