Linda M. Hrenko, 73, of Newton Falls, Ohio passed on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. Linda was born on September 3, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of E. Harry and Dorothy Havican Prettyman.
Linda was a 1966 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She had been employed by the Second National Bank/Sky Bank as a teller for forty years. Linda always happy to see the customers she served and her fellow co-workers.
On May 18, 1974, Linda and Thomas E. Hrenko were united in marriage in Winchester, Virginia. While traveling for a fishing trip in Port Clinton, Tom was involved in a fatal automobile accident in May of 1989. In 1991, Linda would once again find love after meeting Barry Silliphant and they enjoyed thirty wonderful years together.
In her youth, the family would make many memories on road trips in the family station wagon. Traveling became a big part of her life as her and Barry would traveled extensively throughout the United States, Latin America and abroad. The decision to retire was based on whether to stay working or travel to Scotland. Needless to say, Linda chose traveling. Linda and Barry loved sightseeing and meeting new and interesting people on their travels. Her quite pastime was reading.
Linda would serve her community by her active participation and her membership in the Newton Falls Kiwanis. She was a loving and caring person who gave of herself to be helpful to others.
Cherished memories of Linda will be carried on by the family that she loved so much, her long-time companion, Barry, her siblings, Daniel (Rebekah) Prettyman, Priscilla (Jeff) Hecker, Peggy (Dale G.) Leatherberry; her stepchildren, Scott (Debbie) Hrenko, Jeff (Christine) Hrenko, Ben Silliphant and Laura (Frank); her grandchildren, Raennen, Chad, Chelsea, Brandon, Brooke, Little Frank and Marten; her great grandchildren, Tyler Barnhart and Anthony Baker; her nieces and nephews, Rachel Rebekah Leatherberry, Katie (Charles) Coriston, Kelly Hecker, Dale Thomas Leatherberry, Charlie, John and Stevie Coriston and her great niece, Addison Leatherberry Tolla.
Linda was preceded by her parents; her husband, Thomas E. Hrenko; her brother, Dennis Prettyman and her niece, Jessica Hecker.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio.
On Monday, April 26, 2021 a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph Cemetery. She will be laid to rest following the service.
In keeping with Linda’s generosity to others, material tributes may be made in memory of Linda to the donor’s favorite charity.
