Jeanne Louise Sherlock, 101, of Newton Falls, Ohio entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Newton Falls, Ohio. Jeanne was born during the beginning of the influenza pandemic, on August 2, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of George and Agnes Lynch Walker. Jeanne was blessed with a century long, meaningful life, ending not because of the coronavirus but during the recent start of the pandemic.
Jeanne obtained her formal education in the Warren City School System, graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in 1936. Following graduation, she continued her education at the Warren Business College.
During the spring of 1941, Jeanne was introduced to Robert “Bob” Sherlock on a blind date. Their friendship grew and on March 9, 1943 the couple were united in marriage in St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren, Ohio.
Jeanne was a homemaker and provided a loving, nurturing home for her family. During her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Traveling with Bob provided many enjoyable memories for the couple as they experienced new cultures and met many interesting people. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Ireland, Singapore and other places of interests.
Jeanne was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish and a member of the Ladies Guild of the parish. She also attended St. Joseph Church in Winter Haven, Florida where she resided during the winter months.
Cherished memories of Jeanne will be carried on by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Dr. Richard Satava of Pebble Beach, California; her sons and daughters-in-law, John R. “Jack” and Elissa Sherlock of Grand Prairie, Texas, Richard “Dick” and Janith Sherlock of Kent, Ohio, Robert D. “Bob” and Karen Sherlock, Jr. of Newton Falls, Ohio and Greg and Bonnie Sherlock of The Woodlands, Texas; her beloved grandchildren, Rick, Ryan, R.J., Roarke, Bryan, Eric, Patrick, Kimberly, Lori, Richard, Robert, Ross, Beth Ann, Jim and Evan and her great grandchildren, Conner, Milo, Quinlyn, Keely, Finn, Avi, Mira, Cash, Samantha, Ethan, Lauren, Alexander, Emmerson, Ania, Carter, Hadley and Whitney.
Preceding Jeanne were her husband, Robert D. Sherlock on October 1, 2008; her grandson, Richard Steven Sherlock and her sister, Vaughn Eckenrode.
A private service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio with Rev. David Merzweiler officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, where Jeanne will be laid to rest next to her husband.
