James David Thompson Obituary

James David Thompson, affectionately known as Jim by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the age of 59 in Youngstown, Ohio, succumbing to the sudden onset of Pulmonary Edema. Born on December 3, 1966, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Jim was a man whose life was characterized by dedicated service, deep spirituality, and warmth.

Jim's formative years were spent in the halls of Newton Falls High School, where he graduated with the class of 1984. His indomitable spirit and sense of duty led him to a distinguished service in the Marine Corps, where his skills as a Rifle Expert were matched only by his integrity and discipline—qualities that earned him numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Mast 2d Award, among others.

After his honorable discharge, Jim dedicated numerous years to Franklin Healthcare as a healthcare technician. His colleagues there will remember him for his expertise and for the care and kindness with which he carried out his duties. Despite the demands of his profession, Jim always found time for the things he loved—cooking, mastering the art of cheesemaking, expanding an impressive gun collection, and indulging in the pages of a good book.

Family was the compass that guided Jim's life. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted mother, Sandra; his loving spouse, Lenise; his cherished children, Lillian and AJ; and his brothers, Dennis and Timothy. Also sharing in the loss are his brothers-in-law, Kevin (Darlene) Washington and Michael Washington; nephews, Benjamin (Julia), Jonathan, and Fernando; nieces Beth and Gabrielle (James), and his best friend, Kobi, the dog.

Jim joins in eternity his father, James, and sister, Cynthia, whose memories remain a beacon of love and resilience.

Jim's passage leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his legacy of tenderness, service, and warmth will forever be woven into the fabric of cherished memories by family and friends alike. His was truly a life well-lived, grounded in kindness, bolstered by courage, and radiant with love. Jim Thompson will be profoundly missed, and lovingly remembered.

A private memorial service for close friends and family will be held on March 26 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, Ohio.
