Helen C. Surick, 88, of Newton Falls passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, peacefully in her sleep.

On February 13, 1932 in Ramey, Pennsylvania, Helen was born the daughter of John and Anna Kohut.

Helen moved to Ohio in the early 1950's to be close to her sister, Margaret Bednarcik and her brothers who also resided in Newton Falls. While working at Edie's Haven Restaurant, she met her future husband, John Surick.

On June 9, 1951, John Surick and Helen Kohut were united in marriage at St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls. They celebrated 68 years of marriage, prior to John's passing June 12, 2019.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Church in Newton Falls. She was a devoted homemaker and mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping for gifts for her children and grandchildren. She loved her home and spending time with her family.

After John's retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her sister, Marge and brother-in-law, Joe Bednarcik. Together they went on a Caribbean Cruise and a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. They also went on several bus tours including one to Branson, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee, and many trips to Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Cherished memories of Helen will be carried on by her daughters, Debbie Caparanis of North Royalton, Ohio, Christine (Joe) Robinson of Clarksburg, West Virginia and Karen (John) Klempay of Canfield; her brother, Robert (Stefne) Kohut; her grandchildren, Joseph, Jason (Holly), Justin (Jalyn) Robinson, Nicole (Lou) Klein, Katie (Ben) Alper, Michael (Laura) Caparanis, Kristopher and Andrea Klempay; and her great grandchildren, Addison and Austin Klein, Jackson Alper, and Clara, Anna, Emma and soon-to-arrive, James Robinson.
