Harry John Benetis, born on October 16, 1934 in Warren, Ohio, entered eternal rest on February 1, 2021 surrounded by his family.
He spent most of his adult life in the school system as a teacher, administrator and coach, making history as the youngest superintendent in Ohio in 1963.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, casino trips, fishing, playing pinochle and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan (even getting to attend the 2016 World Series!). He was also a member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club.
Harry was the beloved husband of fifty-nine years to Patricia (nee Rabich); loving father of Bridget Benetis, John Benetis (Kelly), Diane Sherrill and James Benetis (Denise); grandfather of Jessica Benetis, Mason Sherrill, Ashley Benetis, Daley Benetis, Benjamin Sherrill, Samuel Sherrill, Cali Benetis and Luke Benetis.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Harry Benetis and Despina (nee Demetrakellis), a brother, Charles Benetis and a sister, Olga Macris.

A service was held with Rev. Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Harry was laid to rest on February 3, 2021 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris Township, Ohio.
The Harry J. Benetis Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor the late Mr. Benetis. Contributions to the memorial fund will provide scholarships to qualified student athletes on the LaBrae High School Women’s Softball Program. Donations may be made to the Harry J. Benetis Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Huntington Bank.
