Gloria (Potter) Czerniak

Gloria Czerniak, 79, of Newton Falls, passed on Sunday, March 1, 2020 in St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio.  Gloria was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1940, the daughter of Raymond and Muriel Piper Potter.  She graduated from high school in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. 

Gloria was united in marriage to James Czerniak on May 14, 1960 in the Transfiguration Church in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania.  The couple relocated to this area in 1970.  Gloria enjoyed going back to the mountains of Pennsylvania with her husband.  On these travels, while James fished for trout, Gloria would sit with him taking in the scenery and reading. 

For thirty years, Gloria had been an employee of Hills Department Store, from where she retired. 

A favorite pastime for Gloria was solving crossword puzzles along with being with and taking care of her family.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls, Ohio.   

Gloria will be greatly missed by her family, her sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Andrea and Jeff R. and GiGi; her grandsons, Justin, Mitch, Ryan Adam and Eddie; her great grandchildren, Jordyn, Arabella and Haden and her siblings, Raymond (Helen) of Burlington New Jersey, Terry (Frances) of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Kathie (Jack) Himic of Falling Waters, West Virginia and Tim Potter of Jeannette, Pennsylvania. 

Gloria was preceded by her parents, her husband, James, on February 28, 2014 and her daughter, Sherrie. 

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Borowski Memorial Home from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. where a service will follow with the Rev. David Merzweiler officiating. 

Gloria will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, James, in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris Township.
