Garry S. Valentine

Garry Valentine, 69, passed on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Mercy Health St. Joseph Hospital in Warren,
Ohio. Garry was born on October 31, 1952, the son of James and Carolyn Valentine. He grew up
in the Warren, Ohio area along with his three siblings, Danny (now deceased), Criss and
Bonnie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ritta Valentine; his siblings Criss Valentine and Bonnie
Loesch; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Garry graduated from Southeast High by School in Ravenna, Ohio in 1970. He had been employed
by the L’Oréal Corporation for over by twenty years, until his retirement in 2014.
In 1970, Garry, along with his family, began a thorough study of the Bible. On February 27, 1971,
he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as a symbol of his dedication to serving the loving
God that he learned about from the scriptures. The truths he found in the Bible shaped the way he lived
his life, and the positive way he viewed the future. He strived to share the Bible’s message of comfort
and hope with everyone. The almost 40 years that he served as an elder in the Newton Falls
Congregation, were some of the happiest years of his life. He truly loved the brothers and sisters and
worked hard as a loving shepherd for them. He was well-loved in return, for his warm, kind, and
approachable manner – always ready to offer encouragement and support.
The last seven years of Garry’s life were marked by health challenges. He found strength in
his faith, and in the promises he found in the Bible. These were a great help to him as he fought
hard to endure.
He was also helped by the capable and knowledgeable medical staff that treated him.
The doctors and nurses at the Taussig Cancer Institute, the Mercy Health Group, St.
Joseph’s Cancer Center and the Youngstown Warren Home Dialysis Center, always
showed such genuine concern and kindness to Garry. And for that, Ritta is truly grateful.
