Frances Cherry D’Amico, 97, died April 26, 2020, at Country Club Rehabilitation Campus of Newton Falls. Frances was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on February 25, 1923, the daughter of Eldon and Lanie Richardson Cherry.
She graduated from Rich Pond High School in Bowling Green in 1941. Frances married Louis D’Amico in 1944 and moved to Newton Township in 1947, living there for more than 70 years. Frances was a homemaker and mother and enjoyed cooking, reading, and gardening. She loved animals and until recent years always had a faithful canine companion by her side. She also took pleasure in watching and feeding the wildlife at her country home. Frances’s wit, free and open-minded thinking, and knack for finding the good in others drew people to her, bringing her many friends of all ages and from different walks of life.
Memories of Frances will be cherished by her two sons, Louis D’Amico and Joseph D’Amico, both of Newton Falls; daughter, Mary Novak, of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandchildren, Tony (Olga) Cook, Laura (Richard) Chabek, and Gregory D’Amico; great-grandchildren Justin (Alyssa) Chabek, Gregory (Brittany) Chabek, Dylan Chabek, and Kristen D’Amico; and great-great grandchildren Kyndra, Max, Miles, and Riley.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Louis; her dear grandson, Todd Cook; her sister, Bernadine, and brother, Wellington.
The family thanks the staff at Country Club Rehabilitation for the kindness, compassion, and care given to Frances.
Family services will be held at Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls Thursday, April 30, at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Newton Township Cemetery.
