Eric H. Templeton, 61, passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio.  He was born on September 30, 1960 in Warren, Ohio, the fifth and last child of his beloved parents, Norman D. “Darl” and Martha A. “Marty” Brown Templeton.

He attended Ohio Northern University where he studied History and Law.

Eric worked in the oil and gas industry for thirty-five years, retiring in 2015 due to health issues.  Eric and his brother, Bob, owned and operated Portage Resources. Inc. for thirty years.  He deeply enjoyed working outdoors during all four seasons of each year, operating and maintaining the gas wells.

He was very passionate about history and genealogy, having spent more than forty-five years researching his “family tree”.  Before his death, he had just finished years of research on the paternal grandmother’s ancestry and was able to share the completed book with many cousins on that side of the family.  He also enjoyed being with family and friends, cooking, doing yard work and listening to jazz music.  Eric loved his country and was a true patriot.

Eric was a past member of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association and a current member of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, The General Society of the War of 1812, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Belmont County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society,  The Huguenot Society of America, The Ohio Genealogical Society, Noble County Historical Society, The National Packard Museum of Warren, Ohio, The Trumbull County Historical Society, the Newton Township Cemetery Association and the Newton Falls United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Marty; his sisters, Darlene Hancock of Cortland and Deanna Wadding of Dayton, Pennsylvania and his brothers, Bob of Newton Falls and Bill of Champion.  Also, he leaves his three nieces; one nephew; two great nieces and two great nephews.

Eric is preceded in death by his father, Darl and also his grandparents, Bill and Peggy Templeton and Ralph and Vera Brown, whom Eric dearly loved.
