Emedio "John" Gennock, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 21, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on May 17, 1942, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, John was a man of kindness, intelligence, and generosity, whose life journey was as remarkable as the man himself.

John's early years in New Castle laid the foundation for a life of dedicated service and a passion for technology. He furthered his education at Youngstown Computer College, which sparked a lifelong career in the computer and technology fields. His work history is a testament to his adaptability and skill, beginning with his service in the United States Navy aboard the USS NOA during a pivotal moment in history—the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a radioman, he had the unique honor of picking up Astronaut and Ohio Senator John Glenn's space capsule and taking a call from President John F. Kennedy.

After his military service, John became one of the first employees at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant in the materials department. His knack for computers led him to transition to the computer room, and eventually to a successful career with Electronic Data Systems until his retirement. His commitment to community service was evident through his many years on the North Jackson Zoning Board, where he contributed to the growth and development of his local area.

John's personal interests were as varied and vibrant as his professional life. His love for 4-speed muscle cars was unparalleled, having owned a 59 Chevy convertible, a 65 Impala Super Sport, and a 70 Chevelle Super Sport. His passion for sports led him to coach Hot Stove Baseball in Jackson Milton/Lake Milton, where he coached his son John at second base, with Jimmy as the bat boy. John also cherished the great outdoors, whether trout fishing on Hickory Run and The Club in Hillsville, Pennsylvania, or seeking walleye in the French River in Canada.

John's love for Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, was well-known among his friends and family. He was a regular at the final table in Texas Hold-em tournaments and enjoyed handicapping football, playing craps, video poker, and slot machines. Even back home in Ohio, John found joy in splitting wood and utilizing his wood burner during the cold nights—a testament to his appreciation for simple, honest work.

John's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Barbara Gennock (Mottle); his sons, John Gennock and Maria Gennock (Cavaliere), and James Gennock and Kathleen Gennock (Gulfo); and his adored granddaughter, Antonella Gennock. He was a devoted son to his late parents, Emelio E. Gennock and Phyllis Gennock (Orlando); and a caring brother to Patricia Gennock (Dotson), Lucille Gennock (Scarnati), and the late James Gennock.

John's life was marked by the profound impact he had on those around him. His kind spirit, sharp mind, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His story is one of enduring love, unwavering dedication, and a zest for life that touched many.
