It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Hankins, who left this world peacefully at home on December 28, 2024, at the age of 79. A beloved wife of 44 years to Jack Hankins Sr., Dorothy touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Born on February 21, 1945, in Morgantown, WV, Dorothy lived a life full of love, laughter, and happiness. She retired from Packard Electric and enjoyed watching NASCAR, observing hummingbirds, and spending time with her family. Dorothy loved every cat she had, and she was known for her infectious laugh and kindness that brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Dorothy was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the memories shared by her family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her presence.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Denise (William) Vernacchio; her sons, Donald Hankins and Dan Hankins; her siblings, Donna (Larry) Howell, Pamela (Bob) Barnett, and Roger (Sue) Burns, all from Morgantown, WV; and her grandchildren, Drake Hankins, Daniel (Fran) Hankins, Andrew Hankins, Matthew (Kayla) Hankins, Courtney Hankins, Chelsea Hankins, Cameron Hankins, Kruz Hankins, Syerra Vernacchio, and Grant Vernacchio. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Pauline Burns, and her mother-in-law, Anita Revels.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date.
