Donava White Obituary

Donava C. White, 82, of Country Club Rehabilitation in Newton Falls, passed on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 3:29 p.m.  She was born on September 19, 1937 in Athens, Ohio the daughter of William and Myrtle Eisinaugle Kasler.  Donava attended Ohio University where she met her future husband.

She was deeply loved by her family as she spread copious amounts of love, joy, compassion and kindness to all she met.  Her loving heart and devotion to family and friends touched all who knew her in ways never thought possible.  Donava freely gave of her time and love to those less fortunate and even her financial resources to those in need.  Over the years, Donava and daughter Tracy dressed as Santa and Elf at Christmas time to give to families in need.  That is just one example of Donava and Tracy’s love for others.

Donava had been employed as a bus driver for twenty years with the East Knox Local School District, retiring in 1999.

Donava was preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years whom she married on March 30, 1956 and her daughter, Theresa Lynn White.

Her surviving children are Larava James of Boardman, Todd of Mount Vernon, Tracy of Newton Falls and Brent of Hilliard.  Donava also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brandy of Cuyahoga Falls, Melanie of Petersburg, Don Jr. of Darlington, PA, Cody of Mount Vernon, Carly, Tim and Jesse Irons of Newton Falls and Logan White of Hilliard and her seven great grandchildren.

Her love of music sustained her right up to her moment of death, as she breathed her last breath with the last word of “The Old Rugged Cross”; a favorite gospel song she would play for residents and family on her keyboard.  Her favorite gospel tune was “I’ll Fly Away” which was sung to her by her County Club Caregiver family, son and daughter just hours before her journey to Heaven.

We would like to extend our love and gratitude to the Country Club Rehabilitation staff for the amazing care and outpouring love they provided for our mother during her struggle with the cruel Alzheimer disease.
