Dona Virginia Hogue passed on to her eternal life on February 2, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Dona was born in Wood County, West Virginia to Robert Nelson and Dorothy L. Snyder Geer on December 8, 1935. She had one older brother Robert N. “Bob” Geer, Jr. Later she and her family moved to Oil City Pennsylvania where she met her husband, Herbert E. Hogue. They married on August 24, 1952. Together they had four boys, Herbert, James, Donald, and David. They then moved to Newton Falls, Ohio and had two daughters, Debora and Lori. All of her children married and they gave her 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Her husband passed away on Feb 15, 1993. 

Dona loved many things. She loved gardening, swimming at YWCA, arts and crafts, and most of all singing. 

One of Dona’s best friends was Dorothy Axiotis. Dorothy was diagnosed with MS and before she was confined to a nursing home Dona promised to take care of her children. Dona loved Dorothy’s children as if they were her own and she helped raise them. They later took care of her. They gave her 7 more grand-children and 3 more great grandchildren to love. Dona developed a companionship with the children's father Terry Axiotis and he was her companion until she passed away. 

Dona was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her husband and her one son, Donald. 

She is survived by her children, Herbert R. (Teri) Hogue, James R. (Kathy) Hogue, Terry Hogue, David R. (Stephanie) Hogue, Debora Runtas, Lori (Tom) Underwood, Billy Axiotis, Brian (Molly) Axiotis, Vivian (Mark) Horvath, Jessica Axiotis, and Jennifer Axiotis; her companion Terry Axiotis, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for family members at 3:00 p.m. on March 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church 2640 South Canal Street, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444.
