It is with profound sorrow and in the hope of the resurrection that we announce the passing of Debra “Debbie” Lynn Garrett Stanley of Newton Falls, Ohio, who went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 66. Debbie was a faithful servant of God, beloved mother, grandma, sister, aunt, caregiver and defender of all, and a cherished member of the Life Church family. Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born May 9, 1958 in Akron, Debbie devoted her life to serving God and others. From an early age, she embraced the teachings of the church and lived a life of faith, love and humility. Throughout her journey on this earth, Debbie exemplified the love of Christ through her involvement in the church, singing the gospel for all to hear, and her deep commitment to prayer and Bible study. She left a lasting impact on those around her, as her compassion shone brightly — especially in her connections through Grief Share, her visits to the local nursing home and her dedicated work as a caregiver.

Debbie was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Richard Stanley; her parents, Alvin and Geneva Mae Garrett; her siblings, Ronnie Garrett, Mark Garrett, Wayne Garrett, Becky Garrett and Faith Garrett; as well as other extended family members. However, we find comfort in the promises of Scripture, knowing that through the grace of God, we will be reunited in His eternal Kingdom.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael (Jamie) Stanley; her most-loved grandchildren, Kaylee and Joshua Stanley; her siblings, Danny (Barbara) Garrett, Linda Garrison, David (Twila) Garrett and Tonya (James) Coulter; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fellow followers of the Lord. Debbie’s unwavering faith and the joy she found in the Lord will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A celebration of Debbie’s life and faith will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Life Church, 610 S. Leavitt Road, Leavittsburg, OH 44430. Calling hours begin at 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. and dinner to follow, for all.
