David Staton

David “Big Dave” Staton, 74, of Newton Falls, Ohio passed on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in Trumbull Regional Medical Center, in Warren, Ohio.  He was born on November 25, 1947 in Frenchburg, Kentucky, the son of Herman B. and Iva Staton.  David was a graduate of Newton Falls High School.

He proudly and honorably served in the United State Army from August 17, 1967 to August 15, 1969.  Serving during the Vietnam War, David was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Vietnam Cross for Gallantry with the Palm Leaf.  He remained friends with the servicemen that he served with.

Dave had been employed by Thomas Steel in Warren, Ohio, retiring in 2004.

Favorite pastimes for Dave included enjoying the outdoors, camping, motorcycle riding, classic cars and rock and roll.

He was kind, loving to all and loved by all who knew him.  He was also fun-loving and quick to give a smile and a wave.  Family and friends were the #1 priority for Dave.

Cherished memories of David will be carried on by his loving family, his wife, Kathryn McGhee Staton; his children, Kelly Marki, David Estes, Mike Estes, Tracy Estes (Kathy), Jeff Estes (Molly) and Bob Estes; his siblings, Herman, Jr., Arvie (Shirley), Sue Myers, and Jean Estlack; his twenty-one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Preceding David in death were his parents; his children, David Staton II and Kelly Reese; and his siblings, Velmond, Marvin, Billy, Elvera Ayersman, and Francis Caudill.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Vaughn Cemetery in Lake Milton, Ohio. For his service to our country, David will be given military honors by the United States Army and the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard.

Following the service, a luncheon with time for fellowship will be held at Roby Lee’s, 425 Ridge Road, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444.
