Andrew "Rick" Clyde Fraelich, affectionately known as Rick, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 28, 1946, in Poplar, Montana, the son of the late Paul Darrell and Delima Louise Fraelich. Rick was a man of wisdom and courage whose handy skills and warm personality left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968, showcasing his dedication and bravery. Following his service, he furthered his education at Virginia Tech University Business College and Indiana Tech University College, laying the foundation for a successful career. For 41 years, Rick devoted his expertise to General Motors Corp, where his hard work and commitment were evident to colleagues and friends alike.

Outside of his professional life, Rick's interests were diverse and reflected his appreciation for the beauty of life. An avid woodworker, he crafted beautiful pieces that his family will treasure forever, each one a testament to his skill and creativity. His love for adventure led him to take day trips and travel extensively across the United States, experiencing the country's vast landscapes and cultures.

Rick's passion for gardening and landscaping was not just a hobby but an art form. He transformed his surroundings into picturesque scenes that will continue to bloom and inspire. His talents extended to contracting and building, and he was known for his electrical work, a skill passed down from his father, Paul.

A man with an appreciation for classic cars, Rick's 1974 Corvette was a symbol of his passion. He lovingly restored it to its former glory and enjoyed the thrill of driving it one last time, a memory cherished by those close to him.

Family was the cornerstone of Rick's life. He is survived by his loving children, Paul (Shannon) Fraelich, Jeffrey (Debbie Payton) Fraelich, Traci Fraelich, and Derick (Ashley) Fraelich. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Justice, Ella, Breanna, and Ayla, who will carry forward the lessons and love he shared. Rick's siblings, Elizabeth Small of Geneva, Ohio; Timothy (Michelle) Fraelich and Mark (Marla) Fraelich, both of Champion, Ohio, will hold dear the memories they created together.

Rick's journey through life was shared with his cherished companion, Carol Rouch of Fort Wayne, Indiana, whose support and love were unwavering. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as countless friends who will remember Rick for his wisdom, courageous spirit, and the handy touch he brought to every project.

He also had a special place in his heart for his pets, especially his tiger cat, Minnie. His love for animals was a reflection of his kind and compassionate nature.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paula Davis; brother-in-law, Larry Small and grandson, Roman Jeffrey Fraelich.

Rick Fraelich will be remembered as a master of all trades, a man who could fix anything, build dreams into reality, and who approached life with a steady hand and a kind heart. His wisdom and courage will continue to guide his family, and the beautiful and practical pieces he created will serve as daily reminders of his immense talent and love.

As we say goodbye to Rick, we celebrate the life of a man who was the embodiment of strength and ingenuity. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy will endure through the beauty he created and the lives he touched.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, 131 W. Quarry Street, Newton Falls, Ohio, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Committal and Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, where Military Honors will be performed by the United States Army and the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard.
