Albert “Russ” Mason, 73, of Newton Falls, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren, Ohio with his loving family at his side, after a seven month courageous battle with cancer.
Russ was born on July 29, 1949, in West Virginia, the son of Bennett and Violet Mason.
He attended St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls.
Russ was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and a dedicated active member of the American Legion Post 236, where he was the Adjutant and ran the bingo hall for many years. He also called bingo at the St. Joseph Church bingo hall.
He retired in 2008 from Denman Tire where he was a tire builder.
On May 3, 1983, he married the love of his life, Sandy Carocci, and they spent forty wonderful years together.
Russ enjoyed golfing at Duck Creek Golf Course and cutting the greens with his good friend, Steve. The family always knew if it was broken, Russ could fix it. His handy work will be greatly missed.
Cherished memories of Russ will be carried on by his wife, Sandy; his two children, Michael Cybak from Columbus and Lora Tarbay and Dusty from Kinsman; his two sisters, Cindy Ripley and Sue (Randy) Jenkins from West Virginia. He has four grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, Kaitlyn and Michael Cybak of Columbus, and Matthew and Mason Tarbay of Kinsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Elio and Louise Carocci and his son, Jarid Mason.
The family would like to thank all of those at the Hope Center in Howland, especially Dr. Lori Hemrock; and many thanks to all of those who cared for Russ in the ICU Unit at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.
