William George Massey

William George Massey, 71, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at his home in Paris Township.  William “Bill” was born in Casper, WY on January 17, 1948 and raised in Newton Falls, OH.  The son of Nathan and Pauline Massey, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Massey.

Bill was a graduate of Newton Falls high school then volunteered for the U.S. Army where he served three years, 1967-1970, earning the rank of Sergeant.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and two overseas bars.  He retired from General Motors after 35 years.

He is survived by his brother James Massey;  three children: William, Michael and Kimberly;  five grandchildren: Alyssia, Cheyenne, Cody, Kesley and Kaylee.

There will be no funeral service at his request but military honors will be held for the family by the US Army and the Newton Falls Veterans Association at 11 AM on Saturday December 14 at St. Joseph Cemetery.
