Rita Gail Totta, 94, of Newton Falls, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus. She was born in Charleroi, PA on January 28, 1925, the daughter of Walter J. and Viola M. (Greenawalt) Gwyer.
Rita was a Newton Falls resident since 1938, graduating from Newton Falls High School in 1943.
Rita married Andrew “Andy” Totta on November 28, 1953. Andy preceded her in death on October 18, 2005.
Rita was a superintendent’s clerk at the former Republic Steel for more than 35 years.
Rita was a long time member of the St. Joseph and St. Mary Catholic Church where she was active in the ladies guild and church functions.
Rita was an active member of the Newton Falls Bridge Club for many years and she was a member of the Republic Steel Retirees Association. Rita enjoyed gardening.
Cherished memories of Rita will be carried on by daughter Pamela Totta and her husband Phil Sipka of Reston, VA and grandchildren Todd and Tracy Sipka.
Preceding Rita in death were her husband Andy and brother Jack Gwyer.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, October 12 at 9:45 – 10:45 at St. Joseph and St. Mary Catholic Church where services will follow the calling hour at 11 AM with Rev. David Merzweiler. Rita will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
