John Grodesky, Jr. Obituary

John Thomas Grodesky, Jr, 64 was called home to be with the Lord and reunited with his father, mother and brother on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

John was born on October 2, 1954 and resided in Newton Falls, OH until he joined the Air Force after graduation. John served as a weapons tech at the end of the Vietnam War, 4 years of active duty and 2 years in the reserves, then he cross trained to medivac. After leaving the services John worked in the medical field and became a paramedic in Alachua County, Florida. After two back surgeries his career path changed to a mail carrier for Gainesville, Florida. John transferred to Ohio as a mail carrier in 2009 to take care of his aging father until he passed in 2013. Due to his failing back injury he was forced to retire on December 31, 2014. John had 35 years of Federal Service.

John has two daughters, Nicole Grodesky of San Diego, CA & Grace Grodesky of Orlando, FL.  John married Vickie Coxson Grodesky on January 18, 2017 and they moved to Belleview, FL with their Yorkie puppies Dallas & Lacie in April of 2018 where John was back in his happy place. He found peace at the pond in his backyard and met many new friends in Tropicana Village.

John was taken from us quickly but those that knew him said he was a man of great faith, kind, helpful and larger than life. He loved to make people laugh, sharing jokes, his love of golf, the Florida Gators Football, Ohio State Football, Dallas Cowboy Football and his love of birds especially eagles. He turned to his faith and playing his Native American drum and flutes for serenity.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, daughters and friends.

A Memorial Service was held in Florida on August 7th and a Memorial with Military Honors will be held on August 19th at 10:00 am where he will be laid to rest at St. Michael Cemetery, handled by Bernard P, Borowski Memorial Home.
