James “Mac” G. McLaughlin, Jr., 76, of Newton Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born on June 26, 1942 in Struthers the son of James and Francis “Elizabeth” (Stanley) McLaughlin, Sr.
Mac was a 1960 graduate of Newton Falls High School. He went on to serve our country in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964. He then attended college at Kent State University for 3 years.
Mac was employed as a mechanic for Genchur’s Sunoco, worked for Newton Auto Parts, and worked for NAPA Auto Parts until two weeks prior to his death.
He was a member of Newton Falls American Legion Post 236.
In his spare time he enjoyed working puzzles, watching movies, reading and above all else spending time with his grandchildren.
Cherished memories of Mac will be carried on by his son James (Jennifer) McLaughlin of Willoughby, daughters Lori Haidet of Newton Falls, Bethany (Michael) Cybak of Powell, and grandchildren Madison, Kaitlyn, Mac, Mikey, Macy, and Alexis.
Preceding Mac in death were his parents, his brother David McLaughlin, and his sister Joanne Rouan.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 16 from 5 – 7 PM at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, and also on Wednesday 10 – 11 PM when services will be held with Monsignor Peter Polando officiating.
Mac will be laid to rest in Newton Township Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Newton Falls Veteran Association.
