Frank E. Gazda, 80, of Newton Township, passed on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Laurie Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Newton Falls, Ohio after a short illness. Frank was born on November 8, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph and Rose Gazda. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Hurst High School in 1954.
Frank was a veteran of the United States Army and received his honorable discharge on July 6, 1959.
From a chance meeting, Frank and Mary Ann Tucci would become acquainted. After a ten month courtship, the couple married on September 3, 1960 in New Stanton, Pennsylvania.
After relocating to this area, Frank obtained employment at the Lordstown General Motors Fabrication Plant retiring in 2000, after 30 years of employment.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph and St. Mary Parish in Newton Falls.
Frank was never one to sit still. He and Mary Ann were always on the go. Frank enjoyed travelling with Mary Ann, spending time with family and friends and watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. For many years, he had been a season ticket holder. One of Frank’s greatest joys in life was being a proud “Papa” to Aaron, Hayden, Owen and Karsen.
Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Ann; his sons, Frank J. Gazda and Kevin (Melody) Gazda; his beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Hayden, Owen and Karsen Gazda all of Newton Falls, Ohio and his sisters, Theresa Matsey of Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania and Rose Marie Radzilowski of Landsdale, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded by his parents and his brother, Joseph “Moe” Gazda.
The family will meet friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
A service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph and St. Mary Parish in Newton Falls.
Frank will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors.
