Walter "Jack" J. Gwyer Jr., 84, of Newton Falls, passed away on Sunday February 11, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Health Center. He was born July 28, 1933 in Monongahela, PA, the son of Walter J. and Viola Greenawald Gwyer Sr.
Jack proudly served our country in the US Navy.
On September 26, 1969 in Warren Jack and Cleo Merwin were joined in marriage.
Over the years Jack worked as an electrician at Rockwell International and GATX and as a bus driver.
Jack was a member of the Believer’s Church in Warren.
His hobbies included roller skating, golfing, fishing, camping, and going to auctions. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan as he attended and cheered them on at their sporting events. He enjoyed being around his family. He will be deeply missed by them all. Jack enjoyed and loved his beloved cat, Tabby.
Cherished memories of Jack will be carried on by his wife Cleo of Newton Falls, son Richard (Connie) Gwyer of Dover, daughters Rita Reakes of Youngstown, and Alysia (Paul) Shamrock of Mecca, sister Rita Totta of Newton Falls, niece Pam (Phil Sipka) Totta of Virginia, grandchildren Edward (Shannon) Reakes, Zach (Sarah) Gwyer, Amber Gwyer, Dianna Gwyer, Autumn (Justin) Wellendorf, Shaun Shamrock, and Alanna Shamrock, and 12 great grandchildren.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents.
Private family calling hours and services will be held at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
