Joseph Sabo, 90, of Newton Falls entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 14, 2017 at his residence.  He was born September 24, 1926 in Coal Run, PA, the son of Joseph and Mary (Bukovics) Sabo.

Joseph and his loving wife of 61 years, Alberta, were united in marriage on June 30, 1956 at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Lucerne, PA.  Joseph was a parishioner of St. Mary & St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Newton Falls.

 Joseph was a veteran of World War II from December 18, 1944 to November 22, 1946 as infantry Private First Class.  He was awarded the good conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal, World War II victory medal, army of occupation medal with Japan clasp, honorable service lapel button WWII and expert badge with Rifle Bar.

Joseph was employed by Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company in Lucerne Mines, PA.  After working in the coal mines several years, he relocated his family to Lordstown, OH where he built his family home and was employed by General Motors in Lordstown for more than 26 years, retiring on October 1, 1991.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 1112 and the VFW 3332 of Newton Falls. 

Joseph enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers football games and enjoyed playing horseshoes and card games in his earlier years with his brothers.  He also enjoyed deer hunting, photography and taking family vacations to the ocean, especially Virginia Beach where he honeymooned.

Surviving is his wife Alberta Ann (Fertal) Sabo, children Diane Jo (Gary) Luzadder of Lordstown, Kathleen Ann (Mark) Pelo of Seven Fields, PA, Joanne Marie (John) Dubiel of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren Jeremy (Megan) Luzadder, Jennifer (Pete)  Fannin, Brandy Pelo, Andrew Dubiel, Alaya (Christopher) Torpy, Matthew Pelo, Mackenzie Pelo, Alexis Dubiel, great grandchildren Zoie, Brielle and Grayson Luzadder, brother, John Henry Kurcsics of Elyria, sisters-in-law Mary Sabo of Newton Falls, Charlotte Kurcsics of Homer City, PA, Clara Kurscics of Penn Run, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Joseph in passing were his parents, brothers Jerry Kurcsics, an inant brother, Frank Kurcsics, Steve Sabo and Louis Kurcsics, sisters Olga Bernard, Janet Widziszewski, Mary Petrosky and Beatrice Petrosky.

The family would like to thank the Newton Falls Paramedics and Police Sergeant Storm for their care and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 18 at the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.  A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish in Newton Falls.

The Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard will hold a military service to honor Joseph at St. Joseph Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
