Huberda, “Birdie”,Ruth South, 94, of Newton Falls, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2017 at Laurie Ann Nursing Home.  She was born on July 13, 1923 in Watertown, NY, the daughter of George and Cecelia (Lamphier) Barden.

She was a 1940 graduate of Adams High School.  Birdie was employed for 16 years at Prophet Foods.

Birdie was joined in marriage with Laffie South on December 24, 1943.

Birdie was a member of Newton Falls First Baptist Church.

In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bingo, crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Cherished memories of Birdie will be carried on by her daughters Linda (Toby) Barnes of Newton Falls, and Billie Jo Rutan (fiancée Joe Baumgarner)  of New Castle, PA, her son-in-law Arthur Binion of Warren, sister Ruth (Harley) Paro of Adams, New York, her grandchildren Jeffrey (Vicki) Barnes, Tracy (George) Heintz, Jennifer (Leonard) Streets, Melissa Binion, and Heather (Jerre) Harper, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and 2 step grandchildren Frank and Julia Baumgarner.

Preceding Birdie her in death was her husband Laffie who passed away in January 1, 1975, daughter Barbara Binion, 4 brothers Raymond, Lewis, Gerald, and Orlo, 4 sisters Iris, Ethel, Lillian, and Pearl and a great granddaughter.

Friends and family may call from 10 – 11 AM on Friday November 3 at the Bernard P. Borowki Memorial Home in Newton Falls where services will follow with Rev. Stephen Spurlock officiating

Birdie will be laid to rest next to her husband Laffie at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg.
