Gerald Edward Lance, 81, of Berlin Center passed on Thursday, November 9, 2017 In St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.  Gerald was born in Old Port, Michigan on October 15, 1936, the son of John and Edna Miller Lance.  He was a 1955 graduate of Newton Falls High School. 

     Following graduation, he obtained employment at Republic Steel.  On January 31, 1956, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and received his honorable discharge on January 30, 1960.  He returned to Republic Steel from where he retired after 47 years of service. 

    On September 15, 1962, Gerald and Hilda Grace Gallison were united in marriage in Stafford, Connecticut.  The couple resided in Mecca for thirty years until moving to Berlin Center in 2000.

     He was a long-time active member of the Newton Falls First Church of God.  Bible study was an important part of Gerald’s life.

     Gerald would enjoy family vacations and spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Pastimes included building and flying remote control airplanes and riding his motorcycle to various locations across the United States.

     Gerald is survived by his son, Oliver L. (Karrie) Lance; his sister, Barbara Jean Hunter; his brother, David Henry (Lesia) Lance; his grandchildren, Oliver Lance, Jr., Beth Ann (Cody) Lance Carr and his great grandchildren, Cody, Jr. and Levi.

     Preceding Gerald were his wife of 53 years, Hilda and his brothers, John William “Bill” Lance and Robert Eugene Lance.

     Friends may call on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God in Newton Falls, where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Arnold Edmondson officiating.

     Interment will be in the West Mecca Cemetery.
