Donald E. Placer Sr., 70, of Burghill passed away with his family by his side on Friday May 5, 2017 at Ohio Living Lake Vista in Cortland.  Don was born on June 2, 1946 in Warren, the son of Raymond and Dorothy Ford Placer Sr.

Don attended Kent State University where he received an Associate’s Degree.

Don proudly served our country in the US Navy Reserves.

He retired from General Motors as a tow motor operator.

Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warren.  In his spare time traveling, fishing and hunting were his hobbies, and above all else he had a special fascination for airplanes.

Cherished memories of Don will be carried on by sons Donald (Melissa) Placer Jr. of Newton Falls and Brian (Melissa Sullivan) Placer of Champion, daughters Denise (Bill) Smith of Kinsman, Karla (Kelly Edwards) Placer of Niles and Karrie (John) Simcox of Bristolville, 2 brothers Raymond E. Placer Jr. of Niles, Richard Placer of Mineral Ridge, sister Kathy (Rick) Murison of Warren, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his special friend Gail Santucci and his loving little girl Cuddles.

Preceding Don in death were his parents, wife Patricia, brother Robert Placer, sister Donna Jean Daniels, step sister Sandra Kay, and grandson Nicholas Aberegg.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday May 9 from 4 – 6 PM at the Christ Memorial Baptist Church where services will be at 6 PM with Pastor David Luther officiating.  Don will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Graham Cemetery in Southington.

In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions in the form of donations to the Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.

Arrangements are being entrusted to the Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.
